From Chaos to Calm: What My New Puppy Taught Me About Presence, Patience & Peace

Discover how one caramel fluffball turned my hectic life upside down—in the best way. A heartfelt story about slowing down, reconnecting, and finding peace as a high-achieving businesswoman. Two weeks ago, my life shifted dramatically… in the form of a 1.5kg caramel-and-white tornado named Milo.

Milo is a Shih Tzu Toy Poodle puppy—small in size, but massive in personality. And in just a few short days, this little ball of fluff has become my greatest teacher in presence, patience, and peace.

As a businesswoman, life coach, and mentor to high-achieving women all over the world, I’m used to juggling a million things at once. I teach about slowing down, tuning in, and aligning your business with your values. But let’s be honest… even the teacher needs to be reminded of the lesson sometimes.

Enter Milo.

It’s Like Having a Newborn… With Fur

The first few nights were brutal.

He woke up every 1.5–2 hours for toilet breaks. He chewed everything. He still isn’t fully toilet trained. And I’m now very familiar with the feeling of stepping on something suspicious in the dark… not ideal.

But even amidst the chaos and the lack of sleep, something unexpected happened:

I began to slow down.

 I began to breathe.

I began to feel more present than I have in a very long time.

The Power of Presence in a Busy Woman’s World

One of the biggest lessons Milo has gifted me is the art of being present.

When I’m with him, I’m with him. Not multitasking, not scrolling Instagram, not thinking about my next coaching call or what’s for dinner. Just grounded in the moment. The way he demands my full attention pulls me out of autopilot and back into my body.

Half an hour can fly by while I’m playing on the floor with him, laughing at his antics, or watching him chew his favourite toy (or my shoe… again).

In a world that glorifies productivity, presence can feel like a radical act. But the more time I spend in the moment, the more I realise—this is where peace lives.

Patience as a Spiritual Practice

Let me tell you, taking a puppy outside every hour on the hour is not for the faint-hearted.

And it’s not a quick dash either. Milo likes to sniff… everything. He takes his sweet time. Sometimes he forgets why we’re even out there.

But in those slow, quiet minutes, as I stand outside waiting for him to “do his business,” something beautiful happens.

I pause. I stop rushing. I soften.

Patience—real, embodied patience—isn’t just about waiting. It’s about letting go of control. It’s about surrender. And for a woman who’s used to ticking boxes and making things happen, that’s been a humbling (and healing) experience.

Companionship & Connection… The Forgotten Essentials

What surprised me most was the emotional impact. I didn’t realise how much I missed having the simple companionship of an animal.

The cuddles. The unconditional love. The silly snuggles. The way he flops across my lap after a big day of barking at shadows and chasing dust bunnies.

There’s something deeply soothing about knowing someone is there, loving you just as you are.

In our world of fierce independence and “doing it all,” many women forget how important connection truly is—for fulfilment, for wellbeing, for our soul.

Milo’s reminded me that we’re not meant to do this alone. Regulating My Nervous System in Unexpected Ways

Despite the stress, the broken sleep, and the chaos, I’ve noticed something wild...

I feel calmer. More grounded. More at peace.

Milo has brought me back to what matters. And it’s not just the cute moments—it’s the rhythm of daily care, the enforced breaks, the joy of just being.

My nervous system has felt more regulated than it has in months. And I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

This is what I teach inside Rich Lady Revolution – The Membership: how to build success without sacrificing your peace. How to create wealth that feels good in your body. How to be a woman in business without losing your softness.

So, What Is This All Really About?

It’s not really about puppies. (Although… he is very cute.)

It’s about what happens when we allow ourselves to be fully here.

It’s about patience, presence, and the power of pausing—even when life gets messy.

It’s about remembering that success doesn’t have to mean stress. That we can create aligned wealth, deep connection, and a life that feels as good as it looks.

A Question for You…
